Aboveboard Consulting Solutions

for Construction Industry leaders

Hi, I'm Andy.

I’m here to help construction companies who don’t want to settle for “good enough”.

I’ve been consulting in the construction industry for over twenty years and I’ve come across two types of clients: those who are content with being “okay” and those who strive for excellence. If you think that you can’t afford the investment needed to be great, think again. I’m here to help and work with you to get started.

Failure, to me, is doing nothing or being passive. It shows up as a missed chance to invest in our foremen or our talented leaders getting poached because we didn’t give them any growth or promotion opportunity.

I’m here for the owners and leaders that want to get better, and make their companies better. Let’s work together. You can be more than just “okay”. You can become exceptional.

I’ve seen Andy as a guest speaker many times and he has always kept my attention. The topics are interesting and something most of us can relate to. Now, I have had the opportunity to meet with Andy one-on-one; and I can say that he has helped me in not only my career, but in my life in general.

Over my 25-plus year career I have learned a lot of things about construction and have worked with thousands of people. In the beginning of my construction management career, I was managing many people that were older and more experienced than me. That was difficult; and so was earning their respect as a leader. As I grew older, the people I was managing were closer to my age and I was well respected. Now, I know I’m not OLD quite yet, but I am definitely getting older than the majority of the people I lead. This is where I was starting to struggle with managing people. Times are different and generations are different, which means change and adaptations need to be made. This has been difficult for me and why Andy was brought into my world.

Over the several months that Andy and I were working together, I learned so much. He has given me tools that I didn’t know existed. He has opened my mind to new ways. As I take my work very seriously, I felt at some point I was failing. Andy helped me realize my value and my value to my company (which I am very happy working for). I learned how to be patient and LISTEN not just to hear someone. I learned how to ask questions before jumping to conclusions. I have learned how to engage others in helping solve situations as opposed to my way or the highway (the old school way). I have been able to be more comfortable on my construction teams the way I used to, even though I am handling things differently. I have had several opportunities to use new methods over the last several months since we have met, and I feel they were successful conversations with all parties happy. I know there will be plenty more to come as well. I am very appreciative of the time Andy and I invested together.
